Reverend Edward C. Cochran Sr. is a preacher who preaches and teaches the unadulterated gospel of Jesus Christ. He is a man of God who makes himself visible. Uninhibited by surroundings he can be found going where the need is the greatest. His down to earth style and innate ability to go into the highways and byways and meet you where you are is evidence that he is a man of God who is not afraid to let the life he leads speak for him. He is a prepared preacher, teacher and evangelist with a special message and purpose. He is a scholar of God's word who is totally committed to encouraging everyone he comes in contact with to turn their lives over to the Lord. His modern day method of expressions, animated and real life illustrations have been a blessing to everyone who has had the opportunity to hear him. Whether you are a youth or a senior, the relevance of his word will challenge you to reach into the depths of your soul and decide who you will serve.
Reverend Cochran was born in Eufaula, Alabama to Buford and Hattie Cochran. At a very early age, his family relocated to Miami, Florida where he grew up and graduated from American High School in 1979. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Army and served honorably until discharged in 1982. Rev. Cochran later moved to Atlanta, Georgia. He surrendered his will to the Lord and accepted his call to ministry in December 1987. He received his license to preach at Welcome Friends Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. John H. Smith. His first sermon titled; "A Little Faith Is More Than Enough" proved he was definitely a preacher chosen by God. After several years of faithful service, Rev. Cochran was appointed to the position of Youth Pastor of Welcome Friends.
In 1990, a pastoral search was underway at Floyd Chapel Baptist Church in Stockbridge, Georgia. Rev. Cochran answered the call and became the Pastor of Floyd Chapel. Rev. Cochran is the Senior Pastor of Floyd Chapel Baptist Church. He is the former moderator of the Stockbridge Community Fellowship Association and holds a Doctorate Degree of Ministry from the Westview Baptist Theological Center Logos Graduate School of Miami, Florida. In May 2013, Rev. Cochran was elected as the President of the Henry County Ministerial Alliance.
Even with his busy schedule, Reverend Cochran is a devoted husband and father. He is married to the lovely Michelle Cochran and they have four children: Tara, Elisabeth, Edward Jr. and Eron and one grandson, Roderick. He truly believes family is one of the most important ingredients to a successful ministry.
